Cyrus Shelley Poems

This bitter grief
Washed o'er my mind;
I cannot breathe,
I cannot hide,
...

When you awake and do not see the sun,
Though it is shining brightly in the sky
And when the presence of a man
Disturbs your mind every time -
...

Pierce my chest with thy sword!
Thou shalt see the blackest heart in the world;
I have slain, I have loathed
But I do not feel remorse.

Shattered

This bitter grief
Washed o'er my mind;
I cannot breathe,
I cannot hide,
Cannot escape this depthless sea
of blackest bile.

My body aches,
My wounds, they bleed,
The thoughts of death
Seem to be sweet;
I can endure this life of agony
no more.

The soil beneath
Shall ease my pain,
This frozen ground
Shall be my grave,
I shuffle off this mortal coil
not to be born again.
