Let Me Be Me

What's wrong with being gay?
Why does it matter who I love?
I am a lesbian.
I am a rainbow.
I am me.
Does that bother you?
Do I bother you?
Why do I bother you?
I don't see how my life affects yours at all.
I'm me.
I eat.
I breathe.
I sleep.
I love.
I'm like you but slightly different.
So why do I bother you?
I am who I am.
I am beautiful.
I am perfect because I am me.
There's no one I'd rather be than me.
I am amazing.
Sometimes I wish other people could see that.
Sometimes I feel alone.
Sometimes I feel like no one wants me.
People use the word gay as an insult.
But look at me.
Would you use me as an insult.
Am I insulting?
Am I insulting too you?
Does my love disgust you?
Am I really the worst insult you could have come up with?
I know my existence is not insulting.
I know I'm not an insult.
But it doesn't seem like others do.
I am me.
I am a rainbow.
I am a lesbian.
And there is nothing wrong with that.
