Eli Chubin Poems

I pushed a single thought out of my head,

But that was my mistake.
...

It’s hard to write a poem

‘Cuz you really need to be
...

I’d be in such a bind.
I would not have any friends,
...

He wore his worn-out jeans.
He didn’t wear a tie that day
...

Absence makes the heart grow fonder.
With you away, my mind does wander.
...

Do you know of a world where everything’s fine?
Where people smile, laugh, praise, and even feel divine.
...

I pushed a single thought out of my head,

But that was my mistake.

Chicken Little

I pushed a single thought out of my head,

But that was my mistake.

Other thoughts came flooding in, worse than before.

It’s Pandora’s Box all over again.

Sickness, death, lies, hatred,

Slander, treachery, fury, grief.

It’s an avalanche,

Caused by the removal of that one little thought.

It cannot be stopped, not until it’s done.

It’s Noah’s Ark, but without a boat.

I’d give anything to halt this storm,

But nothing can stop this flood in my mind.

So it just goes to show

That one tiny thought, if forgotten,

Will cause the demise of my brain.
