Lac Sessionon Start Of The Year Conference

START OF THE YEAR CONFERENCELAC SESSIONNARRATIVE REPORT

Background:
This LAC session wasdoneto refresh teachers specifically the Senior High School (SHS)for the duties and responsibilities being teachers and to set and expectation for this School Year 2019-2020. To make the topics of LAC session became clearer, teachers were divided into two sessions. Grade 11 for morning session and Grade 12 for afternoon session.

Start of the Year Conference Proper:
On May 31,2019 in the morning, the Grade 11 teachers registered within 8: 00- 8: 10 in the morning. Then, at exactly 8: 10 am, an Opening Programwas conducted. A prayer, followed by National anthem through multimedia started the program. This was followed by the Welcome Address by the SHS Assisting Principal - Dr. Susan T. Aparejo, an inspiration message from Dr. Idjya D. Yder. After the message, the Start of the Year LAC Session had come to its LAC session proper.
LAC session proper had started by the first speaker - Ms. Hazel R. Balan and Ma. Loreta R. Desalisa.Mrs. Balan used different pictures to associate the meaning and understanding of teachers of the DepEd vision and mission. Teachers felt they became students by thinking, associating, tryingand cooperating each other as group to answer/ guess thecorrect answer of questions and challenged set by Mrs. Balan to make her topic enthusiastic. The more the energy arose in the part of teachers' group when the speaker gave special prize to the winning group. After the game, Mrs. Balan instructed teachers to memorize the DepEd vision and mission.
Instead of Sub Group Heads, the SHS Assisting Principal took part in the RPMS/IPCRF evaluation and concern. In this part, the Assisting Principal reminded the teachers to be serious in the gathering of MOVs and make every MOVs valid. This means that all of the MOVs be singed by the authorized persons like the sub group heads or the assisting principal. The teachers were also reminded that they should also follow the
schedule ofclass observation by quarter. That COT will be by quarter and it is advised that teachers should refrain from scheduling their class observation at the end of the month(on February and March) . Sub Group Heads was reminded to take charge of their teachers and do technical assistance because under PPST, all teachers are encouraged to become outstanding in order to qualify the new career pathing of DepEd soon where teacher would no longer wait for other teachers item to be promoted but be qualified to be promoted by owning its own item.
Mr. Ivo Tolentino, a graduate of law teacher in HUMSS was tasked to speak about the duties and responsibilities of teachers. He reminded theteachers with everyone's duty like submission of lesson plan every day as mandated by the law. He even mentioned of DepEd order attesting to that. Moreover, he also explained the civil service law about absences, when a teacher be called tardy and absentee, what will theconsequences for first offense,2nd and third offense. He reminded teachers that is the school head is so strict, then most of the teachers will be liable and accountable of their actions in court or dismissal. He stressed that teachers be thankful that DepEd is so lenient to its employers that consideration and maximum tolerance is granted to teacherseven they have already committed violation in tardy and absences. There were more laws under civil service law being discussed by Mr. Tolentino that made all the teachers silenced considering that some of them never know yet of such violation and its consequences. Such laws were about wearing of teachers uniform, the use of biometric and log book, the critical stipulation in affixing signature in the DTR, the time anderasures in the DTR, and the veracity ofwriting in the DTR. The procedure on how to file complaint, the avoidance of answering the memorandum both school and division memo werealso being discussed by Mr. Tolentino. The topic was so heavy for teachers because they were reminded on how to become obedient with the law and conform with the authority.
Next speaker was the Assistant Principal who discussed the agenda about students' assessment and evaluation done by the students. Some teacher argued of the students' personal comments while others were very happy. Teacher made to sing the agreement before the Asst. principal to improve based from the students' comments and suggestions. Next was the class observation topic, followed by classroom management and the distribution of teacher's load. That ended the Start of the Year LAC session conference for Grade 11.
