JOHNNY COBB Poems

We left Glasgow Scotland early this morn
Viewed flower filled meadows on our train ride.
We'll settle into our bed-and-breakfast
Then go strolling the English counrtyside.
...

My lovely Costa Rica,
I'd fly 1000 miles
To visit with the Ticos
And see their pretty smiles.
...

Took a long, lovely walk by the ocean,
No need to apply our suntan lotion.
For the hour was late
But the scenery's great.
...

Get out of the house for a picnic
Let's find somewhere fun to eat.
Tail-gating out of the old red Jeep
Is a special family treat.
...

The remote Canadian wilderness
Majestic forests of fir, spruce and pine.
The abundance of animal wildlife
Longhorn sheep, grizzlies, moose and porcupines.
...

The soft, silent snow of Yellowstone Park
Gives you a feeling that all is well.
Along with many spectacular views
I will also remember the smells.
...

The western world is free today
But this freedom came with a cost.
As the ultimate sacrifice
Millions of our 'bravest' were lost.
...

The youngest marching drill team in town
practiced hard so they won't call us prancers.
Who were these Confederate-clad school boys?
Montgomery's pride: the Rebel Lancers!
...

Through the gates of the 'Wildlife Gardens'
Twenty peacocks will greet your arrival.
If looking for natural solitude
The peace and quiet here has few rivals.
...

The adults think I chaperone
but like the kids, I want to play.
Check the calendar carefully.
I'm off for field trip day!
...

A trip to south Louisiana
Where Mother Nature is still pure;
Been waiting ten years to return
For another Munson's Swamp Tour.
...

I've posted a few poems on poetry.com
And now have two that are in print.
Never knew what adventures this would lead to
When 'Nature's Gift' was 'sent'.
...

Four kids spent the day at Waterville
Could not have been more of a blast.
We hit all the slides plus the wave pool
This fun time just went by too fast.
...

On the edge of this lush rain forest
with Arenal Volcano in view,
we prepare to climb to the tree-tops
and savor the scenery too.
...

As we plan for a perfect vacation
Where will we take our five year old girl?
Can't go wrong with sunny Florida:
The Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World.
...

A part of Americana
when you're living in a small town.
Remember local history
as murals decorate downtown.
...

A part of Americana
when you're living in a small town...
Remember local history
as murals decorate downtown.
...

The loud roar from the Gulf of Mexico
awoke me from my restful sleep at four.
I walk out into the breezy darkness
as waves continue pounding at the shore!
...

Planning a vacation destination...
I've always wanted to go to Peru.
Check another line off my bucket list
My first trip to South America too!
...

We take a scenic break upon a bench
under a cluster of pine tree shadows.
Breezes bring fresh fragrances through tall pines
and we're mesmerized by Zumwalt Meadow.

Strolling The English Countryside

We left Glasgow Scotland early this morn
Viewed flower filled meadows on our train ride.
We'll settle into our bed-and-breakfast
Then go strolling the English counrtyside.

We're reserved for two nights in Whitehaven.
Glenlea Guesthouse borders the Lake District.
Can't wait to go hiking by creeks and farms
Such a panoramic place we have picked.

We pass green pastures of cattle and sheep.
Loved quiet moments just viewing the hills.
Sunshine sparkles on the Firth of Solway
As we take in the scent of daffodils.

One hundred forty miles across England
You can hike, bike or walk from C 2 C.
Whitehaven was once home to John Paul Jones.
See the Irish Sea from our B and B.

A full moon grabbed our attention at ten
As it hung low in the sky o'er the firth.
The Roman Empire advanced to these shores...
Just the prettiest place on God's blue Earth.

Great poem. I was a member of the Rebel Lancers and was looking for any pictures or history during this time. We went to Washington D.C. for J.F.K's Inauguration. If you or anyone has information I would like to get a copy. Thanks.
