(N.B. Perceived similarities between characters in my poems and real life people are coincidental in nature - other than Apollo, no other character is based on any real person.) As we reach an age of hypermedia and immediacy, I would like to act as a youthful regeneration of the agéd-but-much-loved art of poetry. My poetry is mostly influenced by my own personal experiences, which many others had written about before me, but I had never understood until now. The 'Ave Luna' series is about the awakening of my feelings of love and devotion; the first time I had ever felt that way. As well as harboring some contextualisation with Greek Mythology, I would like to say that it is semi-autobiographical in the way it represents my own maturation and Apollo was designed to represent me in all the poems I write, but he serves as more an alter-ego rather than a complete replicate of me.
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood
One was lilac, and the other was painted blue
The lilac path was muddy along the ground
Rays of sunshine, like beacons, lighting up the way.
...
Please take me home away from this darkened place
Where the streets are serene, and the alleys spew lies
The lights have gone down, and I can hardly see
But I know all that lives here is destined to die
...
'Ave Luna', in all her splendour,
Her ethereal gleam siphons down,
Incandescent allure seeping out -
Even Narcissus takes his head from the lake.
