Wars and rumors of war
it is said will be forevermore.
If that is the fate of mankind,
what are we to do?

It is said and now I believe,
Only the dead have seen the end of war.
There is no end it seems
To the horrors and death from the scourge of war.

I once received a gift
Not much did it cost.
For me no use did it fit,
But the true worth was the most,

Fame and fortune I sought,
And I found, but at high cost.
Then I found it was not all that I thought.
Then in your love I found the most.

I had to be free.
Now I am gone,
But remember me
So freedom goes on.

One Memorial Day made me consider
The many tombs to unknown soldiers,
In memoriam to the lost
