Monika Rinck was born in Zweibrücken in 1969. She studied religious studies, history and comparative linguistics in Bochum, Berlin and Yale.
She is famous for her Begriffsstudio, a collection of weird linguistic neologisms and other new and crazy word formations she discovered in the media. Some of these were published in 2001 in a book also called Begriffsstudio.
