Clothe me like I was naked
Feed me like I'd never been fed
Shelter me like I was homeless
Love me like I'd never been loved
...
I will love you more as each day unfolds
In my heart will I treasure thee
Your name written on my wall
To be read always like a nation's law
...
Come to me like a dream
Stay with me like the day
Let ur love lay still in my heart
Through the night I wait to hold you
...
I am Omodele Omotoaiyewo. The son of ayinde, grandson of Ogundeko and greatgrandson of Samaiye., I was born in Ikeja Lagos, Nigeria to the family of Ayinde and Agnes oluwafunmileyi Samaiye, On the 17th day of May, in the 19th century. I am fourth in a family of five (three boys and two girls) . I am a twin and so by tradition of the Yoruba, I was given the name Omotoaiyewo which by interpretation means – “One who has come to taste life”. While my Twin brother was given the name Omokehinde meaning- “One who comes last” being the last to exit the womb. However I grew up in Agege where I had my primary and secondary education before proceeding to Akure in Ondo state, Nigeria for my tertiary education at federal University of Technology where I obtained a bachelors degree in Biochemistry. Thereafter, I came back to Lagos to work. I started writing poems when I was in high school.)
Stewardship
Clothe me like I was naked
Feed me like I'd never been fed
Shelter me like I was homeless
Love me like I'd never been loved
Life changes like a day switches to night
In a jiffy many wrongs are made right
Holding tight the sight of our plights
Our might, straying in open light.
Open wide the window of your heart
Let the breeze of love blow away your frayed mind
I'll dine in time to come
For my table I shall set with the lords
With good bounty shall I reward
Nothing more but your stewardship.
