A Breath Of Spring Poem by Brian David Holmes

A Breath Of Spring

Rating: 5.0

It was in the months of spring,
when blossoms bloom, and sparrows sing
when I first tasted her sweet lips
and knew the warmth of that first kiss
just me and her, no one else
it felt her soul was spring itself
how her breath was brisk just like the wind
her heart could fit a million men
in her arms, time went slow
her love was all I needed to know
yet treachery came in the form of a friend
and jelousy aroused as she held his hand
my heart turned bitter, as if made of stone
I could not bare the torment of being alone
so I challenged his right, but before I could start
I felt his blade drive deep in my heart
yet he could not see the steel in my hand
not hesitating to shoot as I bled in the sand
now I felt the coolness, the tears of my queen
one last kiss, one last breath of spring.
