A Child's Love Poem by Julia West (julesx 64)

A Child's Love

A child's Love is a total love that's felt inside,
The glow of parenthood; feelings of pride.

The look of wonderment upon their face,
The excitement and laughter as a ball - down the stairs they chase.
Large eyes look into yours when naughty - in disgrace.

How you love their bargaining ways - thought to be new and invented by them,
Done to your parents years before by you - inside you try not to laugh,
When your heartstrings they pull - and pretend to act daft.

How they trust you and they cuddle up tight,
When scary dreams wake in middle of night.
Your kissing away their tears,
Helps chase away their fears.
Even a forced wimpering when the moment has past,
So the cuddles and togetherness - a bit longer will be stretched - and longer last.

Sibling rivalry, always a challenge, Become strong alies also in a heartbeat.
Big sisters pick on brothers so small,
Hiding behind you, his bodyguard is tall.
He pokes his tongue out - behind your back to her....
Finishing their recent arguement a safe and braver victor.

Just as quick forgetting as once again they chase, making noise
As ruffled clothes are straightened - regaining poise.

He mimes to himself, stories vivid, imaginary friend,
Unconditional depth of a Child's Love - you can depend

Regular checks back to you to ensure you're still near -
with you watching there is nothing to fear....
