A Date To Remember Poem by Ma. Cristina Balsamo

A Date To Remember

On the eve of February 28,
I was lying blankly on my bed
I was out words and I can’t bare my soul
I was alone but I was not lonely

Moments of solitude enveloped me
I could feel the numbness of my senses
As the deafening silence of the night
Made its way to reminiscence

Out of nowhere a thought crept in
Of someone whom I called a friend
A friend who was there for me
When I started duty on the first day
(…and that was Nov.11,2003)

Memories of fun started to kindle
Bonding and sharing moments so alive
Sharing with this friend naturally come
That brought me to the night of Dec.31
(…hmm, a very special one!)

T’was a night full of laughter
Indeed a night for me to remember
As no one before made me laugh my heart out
With such distance only technology can reach out

October 19 and October 21,2006
God allowed us to be together again
Those were times where our friendship deepen
As I can just be myself when I am with this friend
(… you know what I mean!)

Today as of this writing (oh, its March 4,2007)
I asked myself why was I in that state of solitude?
I then realized I was reminded what to offer
To show how much I really appreciate and care
...the friendship I have in her

It was March 4,1971
Angel Sealtiel danced with joy
For a baby girl named Lennie
Was born on that day!

Today that baby girl has grown to be a lady
A lady with serene brand of beauty …
Beauty that transcends beyond
What human eyes can see!
