A Deeper View Poem by C.A. Morrow

A Deeper View

As she looked into his eyes of steely blue
Of minted ice that beckons winter's rain
Tracks in pine forests, the grey wolf knew
Are solitary tears over scars of love's pain

Duty and honor against the strain of passion
Lifetime habits drive the loner's inner voice
The pursuit of spirit does happiness restrain
As echoes of Valhalla make eternity rejoice

So, he looked deeper into her eyes of cafe' brown
Sun-soaked beaches of the desert's forgotten sand
Where palm trees waltz under a fiery sun's crown
And dreams of youth purify the wasted demand

But time and place seem to separate all faces
Deep in the mind's cage reality is not freed
As tides of love try to fill up heart's spaces
For it is within the soul that God's love is decreed
