A Gallery Of Regrets Poem by Ogolla Enock

A Gallery Of Regrets

In my youth, I lived only by reason
Unaware that there is more to life than
what's seen, felt, smelt, heard, or touched.

Thus I disregarded God and perceived
Him either dead or non-existing.
But He paid no attention to me.

In my latter days of agony, I cursed
and blamed God for my plight
Still, He paid no attention to me.

After years of running and denial,
It dawned on me that by cursing God,
I hadn't given him chance to make his argument.

I had lived all my life, thinking God never
paid attention to me only to realize
it's me who never paid attention to Him.

After years of revolt, here I lie in exile,
my greatest mistake was to disregard
the truth just because I didn't agree with it.

Listen to me you who walk in my steps,
Life is too complex to define with finite minds
God is unseen but always here and constant
If you feel Him far, it's you who moved.

Pay attention and constantly check
your positioning and direction.
You don't have to get to the end
to realize you took the wrong turn.
