A Girls Heart

By Jessy Colton Brethour

In the depths of thought, I pause and ponder,
A girl's heart, a mystery to wander.
Why does she feel, so deeply within,
Sensitive to topics, where emotions begin?

She's caring to all, a gentle grace,
Spreading kindness in every place.
She gives without asking, expects no return,
A heart so pure, in love's fire does burn.

She wont demand, attention or praise,
Her love shines bright, in so many ways.
Accepting your love, as if it were earned,
While you take hers, entitled, unconcerned.

Forgiving apologies, not truly meant,
Ignoring mistakes, yet still content.
Bearing the burden of pain you bestow,
Her heart, a river of patience, does flow.

Excuses she crafts, each time you hurt,
Her spirit resilient, despite the worst.
Past your cruelty, she gazes with care,
A love that endures, a burden to bear.

Trusting too easily, attaching her soul,
Falling too fast, her heart's gentle toll.
Seeing the good in your flawed embrace,
Unyielding belief, a gentle grace.

Beware the day her heart turns away,
A precious gem lost, no longer at bay.
For once she's gone, a treasure untold,
A love's rich tapestry forever unrolled.

So heed this counsel, a plea sincere,
Cherish her love, hold her heart near.
In her goodness resides a rare find,
A good woman's love, a gift divine.
