The gavel falls, the echoes ring,
A sudden shock, a sharp new sting.
The governor speaks, a bold demand,
To stir the laws across the land.
He points to words, to threats of fire,
As tempers grow and tensions tire.
The twenty-fifth, a heavy key,
To change the path of history.
In marble halls, the voices rise,
With angry looks and searching eyes.
The storm begins, the questions spread,
By worry filled and doubt instead.
Is this the shield to keep us sound,
Or shaky moves on shifting ground?
The line is blurred, the future gray,
While Washington finds words to say.
