A Heart Torn In Two Poem by Phillip Dodham Cormier

A Heart Torn In Two

To my left stands the love of my life
But to the right stands a friend
My heart beats for both
I feel the happiest I ever have when I spend time with either
I know not what I should do
My heart is torn in two.
Each one owns half of my heart
Every moment I spend with them I’m thinking of the other.
My lips long to kiss them both
I want to feel their bodies against mine
My ears long to hear them both say that they love me
My mind and heart are stuck
I’m not a cheater but my heart tells me otherwise
I love my girlfriend deeply
Yet I love my friend deeply
Why is life cruel?
Why is love cruel?
What can one man do when two women control his heart?
