A History of Indian Renaissance
Like pearls inside the shell
Was concealed
The nation.
Swami, our God cleaved the shell into
chasms
and
granted the nation
strength and valour.
He planted the seed of Humanism
Among three hundred million Indians.
India is chain free today,
like the indomitable floating clouds.
O, Swamiji! you are the centre of body and mind,
let the nation grant happiness, serenity
With the touch of divinity in misery.
Note: Swami Vivekananda was an Indian Hindu monk, a chief disciple of the 19th-century Indian mystic Sri Ramakrishna.
