A Lazy Hazy Summer Day Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

A Lazy Hazy Summer Day

Ten o'clock, eyes open slow,
The sun is up, and starts to glow.
Sheets feel stuck, a little gross,
The air is thick, like summer toast.

Cicadas buzz, a drowsy sound,
The air conditioner starts to pound.
Dusty smell, and sun so bright,
Fills the room with burning light.

Floorboards warm beneath bare feet,
Hazy world beyond the street.
Silence hangs, a heavy weight,
Outside, lawnmowers seal my fate.

Skin feels damp, a sweaty sheen,
Everything is hot and keen.
Green trees shimmer, far away,
Another sweltering summer day.
