A Lesson To Learn Poem by Markisha Martin

A Lesson To Learn

There once was a kid who made straight A’s in School
But everyone thought that he was just a smart fool
Popular kids always hung out outside after classes
But who want to hang out with a geek with glasses
He always dreamed of fitting in
Until he started drinking liquor and gin.
His grades got lower
And the amount of pills each day got higher
For the time on the inside he thought he was flying
On the inside, he was really dyeing
Weeks later he got worse and worse
This was his own decision, wasn’t by force.
His own family didn’t know him anymore
One night he drank too many drinks and took so many drugs
That his parent found him dead on the floor
All his friends remember him great
And they learned a lesson from his terrible fate.
