A Master Thief Poem by MAHAMMA ADRIANNE

A Master Thief

Master thief stealth the lion share
Petty thief stealth the tip of the iceberg
Police seeth the tip of the iceberg
Their eyes are like kittens’ to lion share

Warders trained to box the tip
But the lion goes scot free
Involve the tip in hard work but the lion on parole
This jungle justice disturb me

The judge complicate the case
He senth this man to prison camp
But the other to plea-bargain
Who was arraigned for stashing Naira
In Swiss Banks not for stealing cent

The government enact laws that work not for everyone
The rich are above the law like those who enact it
It just the poor that the law descendth
And he must bear the brunt of it

One day the poor may rise up
And revolt like those in Tunis side
Perhaps those in Yemen
That whence the nation cannot contain thee
