A Mother Remembers Poem by Deepa Kochhar

A Mother Remembers

Each and every cell was alive with excitement
The day I discovered I was pregnant
A little life inside me
A seed which will bloom into a tree
I understood the meaning of bliss
If there was heaven it was this
With every passing day
I became happier I say
When the life in me turned
My world with happiness churned
When I felt my baby through my belly
Emotions made my knees turn to jelly
I realized putting on weight could also be a pleasure
My fat buldging stomach my biggest treasure
When the D day came by
With pain I thought I will die
I could only scream and shout
Till the bundle of joy was out
When I held him close
On my chest his tiny nose
All my pain I forgot
Folded my hands to thank god
My love my life my adorable one
Grow up to be a nice human my son
Today after years I think aloud
My son you have made me proud

This is really quite amazing. The love you have for your son is quite amazing. And the words you've chosen to use are all very wonderful. A wonderful poem! -Jessica Golden
