A Raindrop Fell Poem by Tony Crook

A Raindrop Fell

A raindrop fell upon the ground
It was lonely at first, but like friends it found
They came together and made a stream
This is their story; it's not a dream
It's one of adventure, acceptance, eternal
Of service to life, Itself a circle

Oh gentle stream, tell me what you've seen
As you tumble over rocks that gleam
Down you flow where only gravity knows
What twists and turns life will throw

Autumn's wind releases the leaves
Their purpose now to transform and feed
You willingly help to carry them away
As they flutter down in trust, unafraid

Winter brings life; a storm is due
Every raindrop helping to replenish you
No difference, no matter, from whence they come
You accept each drop, becoming One

Spring leaves snow and ice behind
Your waters give life to roots that bind
Tall oaks and birch that reach the sky
As a gentle babbling brook flows by

Wild animals bow down and gratefully sip
The life you offer, to wet their lips
They know how precious you truly are
And bless your journey, near and far

Mesmerising patterns of dancing sunlight
Holds power to stop us in our flight
Our minds pause, for a moment or two,
Our perfect Soul reflected by you

We breathe and wish this warm summer day
With childlike innocence, our hearts do say
That our life could always be this way
Simple, carefree, we hope and pray

So gentle stream what do you say
To little children who laugh and play?
They try their best to block your flow
Peace will overcome life's obstacles, you know

A temporary respite, you gather strength
Increasing in depth, width, and length
Then with certainty, as night follows day
Time releases you, on your way

With a mighty rush you make up lost time
Crashing down gully, ravine, path and chine
Clearing detritus with forceful energy
Your life has purpose, to reach the sea

At last you join a river that grows
Welcoming you as one, you start to let go
For now you know you are not alone
The end in sight, your journey home

The sea is vast, living not in the past
Looks up at clouds that slowly pass
They say 'Come up and join me
And let us float away, there's much to see

The Sun shone down, It heard the call
Of droplets willing to experience The All
Its radiance pure, lifted them high
Together they came, to fill the sky

Clouds of grey, greeted the day
Crying tears of joy for the Earth to say
I'll take them all, lovingly
For each brings life to nurture me

One by one they came together
To start a journey that would never, ever
Be empty of excitement, wonder or slumber
Now a gentle stream, that came to ponder

The answer to a question long of old
What's round the corner as life unfolds?
And even if there is a sea, will it willingly, lovingly, accept, me?
Perhaps life is eternal, … for you, and me

Oh gentle stream, what life you've seen
As you tumble over rocks that gleam
Down you flow, no need to know
For life unfolds wherever you go
