A Ray Of Hope Poem by Rumpa Das

A Ray Of Hope

As the last rays of the russet sunset kiss the dismal coconut fronds,
Evening descends on earth, yet radiating myriad hued bonds.
Bonds of blood, bonds of love, bonds of care and bonds of trust -
And more such bonds of habits and lust, bonds that hurt and bonds that rust.

The white curtains of the hospital on which I now lie
Cuts off the rest of the world from me and my grief!
My caregivers and the mass of tubes and needles
Try to ensure the fever and fret is moderate and brief.

My family and my friends, I know not what you endure
I know not how the rest fare and how the affliction takes its toll.
For secure in my heart I carry - the image of the Redeemer pure,
I know He will cure and heal, this fevered body and tormented soul.

In Him I trust, in His will I have surrendered mine
This life is but His unique gift, and a part of His creation Divine.
