A Reflection Poem by Mignon Isaacs Bryant

A Reflection

The girl I see in the looking glass
Has no real purpose there.
She just stands still, looking confused,
And using people's air.

My life right now is best expressed
As stagnancy and yearning
For things to do, people to care,
And ways to keep on learning.

I'm in a world where, if they look,
All the others see
Is what they were, or how they are.
They see themselves in me.

I'm trapped here in this tiny world
Where everything I know
Is showing them what I've been told.
I've got no way to grow.

When I belong somewhere, for real,
I'll get my own perception.
But now, my life is best lived here,
Alone, with my reflection.
