A Slave Song Poem by Farnood Jahangiri

A Slave Song

Up Jordan leave our father
Leave him see us from there
Coz now we are free

Our Canaan’s full of toils
In Jordan, our head boils
But now we are free

In our land, we won’t roam
Exile is our new home
Coz now we are free

Here pharaoh is kind
We sin; he doesn’t mind
And now we are free

Tell Moses to stop;
Not to wake us up
Coz now we are free

Do not trouble water
Angel, this way is better!
Coz now we are free.
