A Song Of Peace Poem by Martin Ward

A Song Of Peace

Peace as a greeting,
instead of just 'Hi, '
or wish on leaving
instead of 'Goodbye.'

I open my hands
as a sign of peace.
I open my heart
like a dove released.

I want to hear
a song of peace:
sweet harmony
when war has ceased.

Salaam and shalom
should be as brothers,
with sacred meaning
to one another.

When hand is in hand
as a sign of peace,
no weapon is held
or hatred released.

I want to hear
a song of peace:
sweet harmony
when war has ceased.

Women and children
should have their full say
in the future world
and the future way.

Hate must be ended
and love take its place,
in a world of hope
on our speck of space.

I want to hear
a song of peace:
sweet harmony
when war has ceased.
