A Special Friend Poem by Mary Ryan

A Special Friend

Words of encouragement you gave to me
You touched my life and set me free
You saw the pain of loneliness I had
Even when I said “Fine”, you could tell I was sad
A fragile egg I appeared to be
The cracks in my shell I let you see
You became my friend when I needed you so
Even far apart, my friend I know
We’re together in the Spirit, joined by prayer
No matter how far we travel, in our thoughts we’re there
A precious gift from God is you
Faithful to God and a friend so true
Seldom seen but ever in each heart
Together in Heaven, we never will part
