A Sweet Refrain Poem by MIRIAM JACOB

A Sweet Refrain

I can hear a little songbird
singing in the rain,
making the raindrops patter
with a sweet refrain,
blending the bird's song
with the sound of the rain.
O, bird with dappled wings,
as I listen to your music,
the dark storm-clouds lift,
filling my gladdened heart
with sunshine and cheer.
Sweet is the cadence
of the music I hear,
with its lilt of spring.
