A Thousand Tongues, Yet One Praise Poem by Ibrahim Enitan Eniola Olubiyi

A Thousand Tongues, Yet One Praise

If I had a trillion tongues,
Each would rise in endless songs,
Declaring, Lord, Your faithfulness,
Poured out in grace and tenderness.
To You, I'd offer every praise,
And lift Your name through endless days.
Let all creation, seen, unseen,
Proclaim Your works in glory keen.

But though my lips are far too few,
With all I have, I honor You.
Thank You, Lord, for what You've done,
In Christ, Your perfect, precious Son.

Were I an angel in the sky,
I'd soar as high as You'd allow,
With seraphs gathered 'round Your throne,
To praise You, Lord, and You alone.
Unfathomed worship I would bring,
While heaven's halls with glory ring,
Exalting You, O Sovereign King,
For all Your works in everything.

But though my wings are never found,
My feet will dance on earthly ground,
And with my hands, I lift Your name,
Declaring Christ, forever reigns.

Had I the power over life,
Commanding creatures, wind, and light,
I'd summon all with every breath,
To worship You who conquered death.
In rhythm with the elders' cry,
And creatures round Your throne on high,
We'd sing of mercy, grace untold,
Your love that never will grow old.

Yet though I lack such might and sway,
I bow my heart, and humbly say:
Thank You, Lord, for all You give,
The life in which I move and live.

Jehovah, reason I exist,
In You, all things persist.
For years now passed, and those to be,
I'll worship through eternity.
