A Torn Heart Poem by Alexander Foald

A Torn Heart

Walking down the front stairs of her house
Welcomed by the cold night, takes me into its arms
As if trying to console a torn heart, embracing me dearly
I wrap myself deep inside the coat and start to walk away

Each time I pass a street light, memories flash before me
Drown me slowly in the flow, like watching an old movie
I question myself just how come things turned out so bad
Here I thought she would understand, but she would not

I wonder if I had been wrong and all this time I just never realized
“Maybe if we could talk, we could make everything alright”
I looked into her teary eyes and suddenly knew it wasn’t the deal
“We’ve been apart too long to remember what we used to feel”

That night was quiet with a cool weather
I could feel the wind blow outside like a whisper
Barely could sleep on my bed, trying to forget her
Alone in my sad world, time really goes like forever
