A True Friend Poem by Hana Banpaia

A True Friend

Rating: 5.0

I am a friend to many
An acquaintance to most
But there is a part of me
Unknown to a vast host

I said I was a friend
And that, in all, was true
But there is a place in my heart
Home the humans few

This place in my heart
The part deep inside me
Is a sacred place to all
And a place few souls ever see

The purest part of my being
Is a place you will forever stay
Because you are a real, true friend
Sincere in every way

This place inside of me
That I have been writing of
Is a part of me you get to see
The place of purest love

For you my life is an open book
Forbidden to many but for you to see
I hope you feel the way I do
I feel you are a part of me

I need you here
I want my soul to live
Without you my life is empty
Without you I have nothing left to give

So please don’t leave me now
I need you at my side
With you at my side
I might just survive this long night ride

Please don’t leave me
Don’t make my heart die
Without you I hurt so much
It hurts even more to cry

I suppose it’s inevitable
It’s true we have no choice
But when I don’t have you near me
I seem to have no voice

I miss you dearly
Yours is a soul
I shall never forget
Please come back quickly to me...

…So that I may be whole
