A Walk Down The Aisle Poem by Ayodele Akinmeji

A Walk Down The Aisle

walk down the aisle
A walk down forever
On downs and highs
Till death quenches the ember

They are not two but one
Their steps united
Whetherthey mourn
Or are delighted

It was so from the beginning
In the garden they were fused
Even after their sinning
Parting for them was refused

How can a walk made to be perpetual
With the passage of time
Be made to be ephemeral
As if no knot is tied?

They were meant to see eye to eye
Like the teeth and tongue does
In spite of differences to ally
And form a formidable force

Let the man like a stallion be strong
Yet be peaceful like a dove
And let truth be his tongue
Above all let him love

Let the wife be caring and wise
Her man she should know well
Let her love and not back bite
And the walk shall be perpetual
