A Walk In The Park Poem by Orville Phillips

A Walk In The Park

Rating: 1.0

You said you weren’t cold,
as some windswept leaves
scuttled by
to huddle in a corner.

We strolled alongside the lake
hand in hand,
I joked that it contained piranha fish.

A happy couple passed by
arm in arm,
her eyes seemed to twinkle
in the fresh breeze.

An anti-war poster
flapped on a tree –
as if struggling
to set itself free.

A black Labrador
ran after a stick –
its owner stopped,
to use an inhaler.

A smiling woman
in bright red knitwear,
modelled for a painter,
in autumn sun.
