A Wheelchair View Poem by Michael P. Johnson

A Wheelchair View

A WHEELCHAIR VIEW
"Just like a bird within a cage
This room is all I see
Yet when I turn my bible's page
I'm well and truly free

When no one comes to take me out
Although I'm here for days
I'm not alone I have no doubt
I feel my Lord's embrace

I'm walking sound in Jesus' hand
Through dales up mountains high
The bible makes these feet to stand
And by God's grace I fly!

Though hand to mouth, some people speak
Of me they give no mind
They look, and think my mind! is weak
I'm deaf, I'm dumb and blind

My brains alive I'm only lame
My heart's brim full of song
Since first Christ Jesus to me came
I praise Him all day long

Could be my house, is in your street
Perhaps when next you stroll
Come take me out, just for a treat
My God will bless your soul

To some! I'm such a great surprise
When time with me they share
When first they look into my eyes
And see Christ Jesus there

In Christ I live I laugh and cry
Through grace I'm born anew
So come my friend please don't be shy
I'm human just like you".....
