Alfie Died Today - Poem by Mad Gone

Alfie died today, while his family and friends,
Knelt to pray.
Alfie died today, as the world and I,
Just worked away.
“Alfie, dead did you hear! ”
The farmer’s wife declared,
As the teapot was give a final stir.
Alfie, will be buried soon,
Says the farmer as he lifts his spoon.
Forgotten, funeral, the time not sure,
The house, the wake, I did not tour.
Alfie has been laid to rest,
While I remain a living guest.
I walk the dogs at the dead of night,
The souls I fear, still love the light.
Alfie’s gone, no longer here,
As well as the 150,000 cleared.
Heaven must be full tonight,
With so many souls to reunite.
Maybe it will be too packed,
And bring our Alfie back!
You see, Alfie died today,
While you and I, are allowed to stay.
