Alive Poem by Tracy WatsonBrown

Alive

' I was glad when they said to me
'Let's go to the house of the Lord' '
So we went in expectation
And found companions for the journey,
Food for body and soul.
Songs and psalms of blessing,
Words to waken
To invigorate our dry bones.

A work of underpinning
Reinforcing fractured foundations
Cementing the broken blocks
That love has caused to crack-
The freeze/thaw of death and life-
Stitched, covered, washed, repaired,
Ready for release into the world.
Renewed, refreshed, restored.
