Allegiance Is The Key Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Allegiance Is The Key

Now who’d have thought this child of shame
Would climb in Christ so high?
Receive from God a brand new name?
His promise not to die

The world was once my everything
Till Jesus came my way
I’d never thought my heart could sing
The way it does today

When covered with Salvation’s Flame
Submerged in Liquid Light
This child received for rags of shame
A robe of purest white

Until my Jesus comes again
Allegiance is the key
Complete with rod, my Lord must reign
If I’m to stay so free

It matters not how deep the pain
How high in life the cost
Without The Lamb my life’s in vain
Without His hand I’m lost

Encompassed by His chosen bride
Encouraged by His Dove
Secure and warm, this child inside
Can share His perfect love

I feel His presence deep in prayer
God’s love within my song
The arms of Christ are always there
His council’s never wrong

Fanatic, yes! I’m Jesus’ tool
Some say I’m quite insane
But God says I’m a precious jewel
Refined and born again…
