t hurts to be told you’re not allowed back home
Not able to return to path that you had been shown
It feels like you’ve suddenly been stabbed in the heart
You want to cry but you tell yourself not to start

You were asked so many times in a year to return
You wanted to make things right, you wanted to learn
They said it couldn’t be done; they made you do it alone
Without anyone to help, your hope drops like a heavy stone

You want to give up and just run away,
But where would you go? Where would you stay?
You feel all alone; you have no place to go
You want to prove you’re better, but how will you show?
