Although We’ve Heard Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Although We’ve Heard

Through Christ, we’ve heard what life’s about
We see the test of time
We’ve learned so much, yet still we doubt
And thus remains our crime

Refusing Christ, God’s Truth and Light
We die the death of Cain
From hell we’ll find no means of flight
Nor sin’s eternal pain

How swift like fools from grace we fall
How oft we fail to rise
We even fail on God to call
When Satan spins his lies

Although afraid to end in hell
From sin, we rarely shy
We smile and say that all is well
Whilst deep in shame we die

There’s no escape the Reaper’s sword
There’s no escape the flame
For those without The Christ as Lord
For those who die in shame

The Lord our God is no one’s fool
He hears our every thought
He sees it, when we break a rule
As though we won’t be caught

Today all life on earth would cease
If Christ were not to save
No grace to find eternal peace
If death was but the grave

But death is not, the final word
Life’s Author is at hand
For all who Christ have truly heard
For all who understand
