AMONG THE TREES Poem by Luz Mary Giraldo

AMONG THE TREES

I hear life
woodpecker
I hear it everywhere
hitting hard the bark.
It hits against the wind
it pecks the days of wood.

The millenary bird
hits on the tree of life
and while the leaves fall
the colour of time changes
it drops out like an hourglass
it beats slowly
slower every time
slower
slow.

I hear the bark sound again:
another bird begins its journey
and the day begins
like the night
among the trees.
