An L Of A Difference Poem by Mary Champion

An L Of A Difference

The cover is clover.
The lover is over.

The pear is a pearl.
The ear made an earl.

The pelt was a pet
that would melt when we met.

Ice cold is this cod
and this gold is now God.

The fan made a flan.
The god Pan made a plan.

Hove is a hovel.
The grove turns to grovel.

A pea or a(p) peal
to the sea for a seal.

The flag is a fag,
while the slag starts to sag.

Patter makes platter,
and flatter is fatter

Give or take - more or less
It's an ‘L' of a mess
