And... Poem by Shipra Agarwal

And...

And the key is off the key stand
it has been turned and twirled again
into the lock's empty soul and out
respite from questions and doubt.

And the curtains have been pulled stiff
all light blocked by the familiar motif,
voices, faces, caring eyes
sent away by a bunch of lies.

And the robe of pretension lies on the floor
the mask was lost long before,
my thoughts are now the demon i was running from
I lay down my weapons and wait for the storm.

And if I survive this night and my dreams
I will smile at you tomorrow amid sun beams,
but if i don't, then will you remember
that i called your name while drowning in this slumber.
