Angel Of Mercy Poem by Mary Champion

Angel Of Mercy

She came, with healing handbag
to fill the world with gladness.
With deep compassion for the poor
she took away their sadness.

When the coalmines had to close
and shipyards did likewise
she planned regeneration
and dried the tear-filled eyes.

Harmony and unity
were what she sought to bring,
smiling on us, every one,
she taught the world to sing.

Disputes with Argentina
were settled right away,
ne'er a shot was ever fired
in Maggie Thatcher's day.

And now she's joined her father
in that Grocer's shop on high
we miss her like you'd not believe.
So sad she had to die.
