What I once passed without seeing
may stand before me later
and ask for another answer.
The boy wants to become a man,
the man wants to remain the boy
and between them
the same word keeps changing.
Still, when the evening is over,
I would like to have done some good
without having to make myself
important in it.
And tomorrow, perhaps,
I will understand good differently.
Perhaps I should.
For what use is a life
that only becomes better
at remaining what it was?
