Are Babies Truly Like This? Poem by Buxton Shippy

Are Babies Truly Like This?

To see you smile
Is Water in the desert;
Contours not constrained by time.
Keep on smiling
For if you laugh
It's another resurrection.

Wish I could see your inside,
The flawless tributaries
Not jaded by experience;
Trusting
Hoping
Loving
Not infected by impossibilities
But reaching for the skies.

Is it a new world,
Or it's just my imaginings?
Are babies truly like this?
