the world is talking
the wind is howling
and the sun is a drunken beast
burning down like a mountain


Are you listening?

the rail tracks are crackling
under the scorching heat

Are you listening?

to your own voice
to the sudden chirping of birds
to the buzzing of flies


Are you listening?

For you are here to listen
For the world is talking
And the winds are waves
howling down the open spaces

Are you listening?

because everyone else
everything else
is busy talking
