Are You The One Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Are You The One

I’m here I’m there at odds again
My pillow soaked in tears
Afraid my life I live in vain
Through many misspent years

Are You The God who’s full of love?
Who’s merciful and true?
Who’s calling sinners high above
To live through birth anew!

Are You The King who reigns supreme?
Of whom the stories tell
The Answer to my every dream
The Way from death and hell

Have You such power as they say?
Is death at Your command?
Can life be just a prayer away?
Is all within Your hand?

Will You allow my eyes to see?
My ears The Truth to hear
That I may live may walk now free
Without these chains of fear

Have You such love such awesome grace?
My past You would forgive
So even I may see Your face
And through Your Son may live

I’m calling loud I’m calling now
In faith in hope and trust
I’m calling as I humbly bow
To raise me from the dust

Into Your hands I pledge my soul
Through Christ I make my plea
Please guide this child towards my goal
And give me victory
