I can still praise all night at a revival,
Praising the good Lord like I'm in a recital;
I can still pray a prayer that leads you tears,
Praying in Spirit and Truth,
Scriptures here and there and a drop appears.
But as I partake in communion,
Lord, the Spirit consumes the human;
Breaking up the bread unleavened and blessing it
Like You did and called it Your Blood, so I'm professing it;
Juice like wine with lips pressed against a cup,
Giving thanks for grace cleansing my sins in Your Blood;
And I remember how mercy was proven,
As I partake in communion;
As I partake in communion,
Communion, Communion...
As I take communion.
I can still evangelize on the corner of streets,
Evangelizing purpose and what favor means to me;
I can still study the scriptures with inmates in prisons,
Studying to show myself approved,
With weekenders, lifers, and whoever speaks and listens.
But as I partake in communion,
Lord, the Spirit consumes the human;
Breaking up the bread unleavened and blessing it
Like You did and called it Your body, so I'm professing it;
Juice like wine with lips pressed against a cup,
Giving thanks for grace cleansing my sins in Your Blood;
And I remember how mercy was proven,
As I partake in communion;
As I partake in communion,
Communion, Communion...
As I take communion.
