As The World Turns Poem by Justin Gildow

As The World Turns

As the world turns
He wonders if he'll get
a job
And finally be off of
unemployment
She dreams of a day when
she'll find true love
For the time being, she
clutches a bouquet of flowers
Lifting them up to her nose
She smells them
Inhaling their fragrance and
scent

As the world turns
He plays the lottery every
day
Hoping to win
Hoping to hit the big time
Hoping that his cash prize
will serve him well
She wishes to travel the world
From city to city
From town to town
From state to state
From country to country
Even if she has to go by
plane or by ship

As the world turns
Some are living in positivity
Some are living in negativity
Another building has been bought
up
Another oil well has dried up
Another conference has begun
Another agreement has been shut
down

As the world turns
Some have TV in their lives
I'm one of a few that don't
Instead, relying on my own
imagination
Some listen to the radio
I have an Ipod

As the world turns
I count my blessings
Family and friends
As well as what interests me
And what I love
And that I'm employed

As the world turns
I've learned that every day
is a different day
A new day
